The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) will get additional Volvo 9400 intercity coaches for its fleet. Volvo Buses delivered five coaches to Great Value Fuels, a group company of AB Corporation, on Thursday. Great Value has entered into a public private partnership (PPP) arrangement with UTC and the new coaches will be operated under this scheme.

Volvo Buses has delivered 10 Volvo 9400 intercity coaches to Great Value. Of these, the second batch of five buses was handed over by Anna Johansson, Minister of Infrastructure, Government of Sweden, at the factory in Bengaluru. Jasdeep Kaur Chadha, Managing Director, AB Corporation accepted the key. The Ambassador of Sweden to India, Harald Sandberg flagged off the bus.

“Volvo Buses has been at the forefront of driving the change in the Indian bus industry. The products have helped redefine the way people perceive and prefer bus travel,” said Johannsson.

With its focus on delivering 'sustainable mobility' solutions, Volvo was ready to meet demands of the future, she added.

“The delivery of these buses is significant as it indicates the growing confidence among operators to choose Volvo products to meet their requirements. The entire Volvo intercity coach consists of concepts and technologies that are well-established product with proven track record,” said VRV Sriprasad, MD of Volvo Buses India.

The Volvo 9400 intercity coach is designed to meet passenger demands of safety, luxury and comfort. It is one of the most successful products from Volvo Buses in India and is operational on key routes including Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Nashik, Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Hyderabad. Volvo has over 5,000 buses operating on Indian roads.
