Amazon has led a ₹150-crore Series B funding round in home services provider Housejoy. The other new investors were Vertex Ventures, Qualcomm and Ru-Net Technology Partners. Existing investor Matrix Partners India participated in this round of fund raise. Housejoy will use to grow and innovate the category, go in for acquisitions and to build the team. It aims to be present in more than 10 cities and have 50,000 service provides on the platform to serve one lakh jobs a day.

MeraDoctor gets ₹7-cr funding

MeraDoctor, a platform for virtual consultations between doctors and patients, has raised ₹7 crore in pre-Series A financing led by Unilazer Ventures. Since its launch earlier this year, over 3 lakh people have connected with carefully screened doctors across India through MeraDoctor using a simple chat interface. MeraDoctor will use the money to extend its technology platform, scale up its doctor base, add to its technology and management teams, and grow the business.

Blackstone pumps $170 m in IBS

Private equity company Blackstone has invested $170 million and picked up a minority stake in IBS Software, a travel, transportation and logistics technology company. PE investor General Atlantic, which had invested $60 million in IBS in 2007, has exited the company as a result of the investment by Blackstone.

Shotang raises $5 million

B2B e-commerce marketplace Shotang.com has raised $5 million in Series A funding from Exfinity Venture Partners and Unitus Impace Livelihoods Fund. It will use the money to grow the team, expand into top 10 cities and strengthen its core technology infrastructure over the next one year. Shotang enables retailers, distributors and manufacturers discover, transact and manage their businesses better.

Canbank VC invests in Bioneeds

Canbank Venture Capital Fund has invested ₹25 crore in Bengaluru-based Bioneeds India. The pre-clinical research firm plans to use the money to expand its facility by 1.2-2.3 lakh sq ft and buy equipment. After the expansion, the company will be able to offer the full range of discovery development and regulatory services to pharma, biotech, medical devices and agro-chemical companies.

Spencer’s Retail buys meragrocer

The Kolkata-headquartered RP Sanjiv Goenka group company Spencer’s Retail has bought online grocery retailer meragrocer.com. It did not disclose the deal size. The e-commerce foray marks the forward integration of the company’s brick and mortar large format retailing business.
