POKKT, a leading mobile video advertising platform in India and South-East Asia, has raised close to $5 million (₹32.5 crore) from new and existing investors. The new investors are Segnel Venture Pte Ltd, Shinji Kimura and Sundar Chanrai. The company had previously raised $2.5 million in Series A from JAFCO Asia, SingTel Innov8, Jungle Ventures and K Ganesh.

Mohandas Pai invests in Gingercrush

Former Infosys Director-turned-angel investor TV Mohandas Pai has invested an undisclosed amount in Gingercrush, a licensed product customisation platform. Gingercrush lets users choose a product, pick a design and customise it, as per their taste before placing the order. Gingercrush has a design library of over 80 brands, including Disney, Pixar Movies and Mattel.

CarTrade buys rival CarWale

Online auto classified platform CarTrade has bought rival CarWale from leading European digital publisher Axel Springer. The deal size was not disclosed. CarTrade is focussed on the used cars segment, while CarWale targets new vehicles. The two companies have over 3.2 crore combined visits a month, work with about 9,000 new and used car dealers, and connect car manufacturers with buyers. The platforms list more than 2.25 lakh used cars for sale.

Indiabulls Housing invests in UK bank

Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd is investing $100 million (₹650 crore) for a 39.76 per cent stake in OakNorth Bank, a full service universal bank in the UK. Further, Sameer Gehlaut, Chairman, Indiabulls Housing, will invest in his personal capacity for up to a 10 per cent stake in OakNorth Bank at the same valuation.

Octathorpe gets ₹1.6-crore funding

The Chennai Angels has invested about ₹1.6 crore ($250,000) in Hyderabad-based Octathorpe Web-Consultants, which has promoted the cricket management game Hitwicket. Hitwicket is generating funds through app purchases and the product is available across 77 countries.

Townsend Group invests in KKR co

The Townsend group, a leading provider of global investment management solutions focussed on real estate and real assets, is investing in a KKR-sponsored and managed non-banking finance company in India. This real estate focussed NBFC, which includes Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC as a lead investor, provides credit solutions for property developers.
