An affiliate of global private equity firm Warburg Pincus has led a ₹520-crore Series E round in Delhi-based microfinance company Fusion Microfinance, marking the PE firm’s first investment in the Indian microfinance industry. The investment round includes a primary fund raise and secondary sale by a few early-stage investors.

Existing investor Creation Investment participated in this round, while early investors Incofin, NMI, BIO and SIDBI made successful exits. Established in 2010, Fusion has cumulatively disbursed loans worth over ₹5,000 crore. The company is a rural MFI with a pan-India presence through 500 branches in about 200 under-developed districts in 18 States. It has an outstanding portfolio of ₹2,050 crore, serving more than 1.3 million customers.
