Pran Sathiadasan, Director, Commercial Operations, South-East Asia, flydubai, which operates to eight cities in India

My favourite airport: Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Terminal 2)

What I like about it: From a socialist-era dump to a modern, classy, elegant airport reflecting India’s rich culture everywhere — the ugly duckling really transformed into a beautiful swan.

Amazing museum housing some rare artefacts, great shopping and food outlets, fantastic lounges, swanky and clean toilets better than any I have seen… I think this airport captures the essence of what India of the 21st century truly should be — modernity fringed with rich tradition.

Operationally it managed to overcome London Gatwick as the busiest single runway airport in the world in terms of airplane movements — a salute to our capability to match the best globally if we really want to.

What could be improved: The airside, of course. But unfortunately, very limited scope for improvement as the airport is hemmed in by a city bursting at the seams.

Other airports I like: My Dharmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi – NSCBI Kolkata, Frankfurt Airport, IGI Airport, DEL (minus the carpets).
