The fifth edition of SHRM HR Tech going on currently in Hyderabad has seen the creation of new terms impacting the world of work. Sharad Sharma, co-founder, iSPIRT Foundation, talked about “orbit shifts” taking place in several industries that are bound to affect employees.
If Edison were to come back to the world now, he would recognise the technology he created in the world of electricity. However, if Bell were to come back now, he would be mystified by the telecom world.
What’s happening in telecom, auto and now banking and payments are orbit shifts, according to Sharma.
These technological changes are delighting consumers but for employees and HR professionals it means navigating new areas. “New playgrounds need new archetypes of players and we need to become athletic Gavaskars,” was Sharma’s advice.
At the event, attended by over 1,500 delegates, Deloitte released its Global Human Capital Trends for 2019, which looks at the future of workforce, the future of the organisation and the future of HR. One of the most interesting parts of the report is on the evolution of jobs from standard jobs to hybrid and now superjobs. This happens when parts of traditional jobs are combined with technology keeping the human dimension and redesigned to maximise productivity.
