The year 2016 will raise several healthcare issues — from the lengthening shadow of the US FDA on many top drug companies to price control issues on medicines and medical devices. While price control on devices is a new area, medicines have been seeing government steadily tightening its grip. In fact, a case contesting the present price control regime is before the Supreme Court, as also one on clinical trials. Several merger deals of 2015 will hit the road in 2016. And, the Centre will be watched if it brings in measures to improve access to healthcare and insurance coverage.
