My day begins at 5.45 am – to get the kids to school! Being a professional tennis player, I have always been an early riser. My wife and I go for a walk in the morning or play tennis.

I am lucky I'm in a profession I love, plus I get to exercise every day, which keeps me in shape. My team of coaches and I spend 7 hours each day on the tennis court, training beginners to advanced level players.

Tennis burns calories, but my wife’s diet keeps us healthy. As you grow older you need to watch what you eat. My breakfast is fresh orange juice, fruits, eggs and oats. Lunch is baked/grilled chicken or fish cooked in olive oil. Dinner is a big bowl of salad with sprouts, homemade dressing and dried fruits. I try to avoid the five whites – sugar, rice, processed flour, bread and salt.

Eating dinner early is very important. Eating light and sleeping early is a routine I follow which helps me sleep well.

On holidays and weekends, we indulge a bit, but never overeat! Holidays are very important to relax and rejuvenate. I try to take mini getaways with my family whenever possible.
