The World Kidney Day, marked in India on March 12, sets out to raise awareness on the role the kidneys play in your overall health.
With diabetes and high blood pressure being key risk factors in chronic kidney disease, the significance of this day only increases, given the high prevalence of diabetes in India. In fact, the recent Union Budget too singled out end-stage kidney disease for special mention, outlining plans to improve the affordability and access to dialysis centres across the country. Globally, the day is marked on March 10th and this year’s focus is on raising awareness on children who are at risk.
