Those selling medicines online to the general public in the UK, need to be registered with the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and be on the MHRA’s list of UK-registered online retail sellers from July 1.
They also need to display on every page of their website that offers medicines for sale, the new European common logo which is registered to the seller, the Agency said. The UK requirement comes even as India discusses e-pharmacies and its inherent benefits and dangers. The registered EU common logo will help anybody buying medicines online, as they can check if the website is legitimately registered, by clicking on the logo which will take them through to the approved sellers.
