The five things Viren Rasquinha, former captain Indian hockey team, CEO Olympic Gold Quest, does to keep fit:
1. I always have 5-6 small meals a day rather than 3 big meals. It is easy to digest and I am never that hungry that I eat like crazy. I also avoid eating my dinner beyond 8.30pm. I prefer to have my last meal as early as possible.
2. I always drink plenty of water throughout the day. In fact, I constantly sip on water, a habit inculcated from my hockey playing days to stay hydrated. I start my day with drinking one litre of water after I brush my teeth.
3. Regular exercise and a normal balanced diet is best to keep healthy and fit. I like all types of food and am not a fussy eater. I love chocolates, street food etc like bhel puri, vada pao. But this should be in moderation, I avoid spicy and oily food.
4. My exercise involves badminton with my wife or playing football with my friends. Not much hockey these days, but I prefer to play a sport regularly rather than go for a run or to the gym.
5. I climb the steps as far as possible, it's the best natural exercise. My two and a half year old daughter is my biggest stress buster, running after her all day is great exercise as she has boundless energy!
