Fitness for me is largely constructed from happiness, and happiness comes most easily from long, quiet treks through wild places.
Squash and slow steady jogging was once my life for 30 long years... but no more. I find the gym painfully boring and tennis perfect to watch, not play. So, I climb stairs, walk short city distances and long wilderness distances.
My grandsons think I'm their age so that takes care of a few things! I do my 5BX (Five Basic Exercises designed for the Canadian airforce) daily at lower levels than I used to. And when I can, I go diving in the open sea.
My middle is not expanding, but it's not contracting either... so that's my new mission: to feel a touch lighter. Happier... jauntier, eat a little less, laugh a little more. If that works out, the rest of life will, I am sure, follow.
I am a vegetarian to the point of insanity. I love carbs, but have consciously cut down on it. I wake up early, before daybreak and love the silence of our ground floor home. I’m lucky, I sleep to an orchestra of frogs and wake that of birds. I absolutely love films which I watch almost religiously before sleeping.
