“Moonlit Yoga” and “Yoga flash mobs” are some of the events planned in the run up to the second International Yoga Day on June 21. Besides yoga events in the country, the External Affairs Ministry is reported to have roped in over 170 missions for events across the world. The fortnight ahead also marks World Blood Donor day on June 14, with the theme being “Blood connects us all”. Blood donation by one per cent of the population can meet a nation’s most basic requirements for blood, the World Health Organisation has said. Sixty-two countries collect 100 per cent of their blood supply from voluntary, unpaid blood donors. And of the 108 million blood donations globally, approximately half are in high-income countries, home to 18 per cent of the world’s population.
