Audio product-maker boAt (yes, it is spelt and written in that specific way), has been marketing its products extensively in the country. One of the recent launches from the company are the boAt Rockerz 255R wireless earphones, which they sent over for us to try out, and here’s how they performed.

The first thing we noticed on unboxing the earphones was the neon green highlight that runs along the neckband and the wires connecting it to the in-ear pods. The neckband can look a little flimsy, but we found it quite flexible and durable and it should fit comfortably around one’s neck.

The wires seemed a little long and were non-retractable, but at this price, to expect retractable ones would be a bit of a stretch.

The ends of the neckband end in smooth-textured plastic units and on the one on the right, you can find three buttons, the centre of which is a multi-function button to power the earphones ON and OFF, play/pause music, take calls, etc. The other two can be used to control volume and skip tracks.

The earphones have decent battery life, having lasted us over four hours on a single full charge. They also support fast charging, providing a claimed 45 minutes of playback time after ten minutes of charging. They are IPX4 water and sweat resistant and survived some light rain and splashes.

The sweat resistant bit should help those who will use these for workouts.

The box said these earphones have ‘extra’ bass and that was evident, sometimes at the cost of the vocals. In bass-heavy songs especially, you find other instruments getting drowned out by the thump.

Hence, we enjoyed listening to songs with light bass on this one and not the bass-heavy ones. The audio is, however, clear, and listening to recordings or calls was satisfactory.

They also get quite loud, depending on how far your device’s volume reaches.

For those looking for an affordable Bluetooth set for workouts and listening when travelling, the Rockerz are an option.
