Back at the CES event in January this year, Harman launched a bunch of earphones in its Endurance series — all sporty. Each one in the series is fine-tuned to a specific type of activity. You have Endurance Run, Sprint, Jump and Dive. The Dive, for example, has a small built-in MP3 player and doesn’t rely on Bluetooth because that won’t work so well underwater.

We’re having a look at the Endurance Jump today. It’s fit for a number of activities including CrossFit and high impact exercise. To look all sporty, these wireless earphones come in some interesting colours. Ours was a fluorescent yellow and black. They’re not totally wireless in that the two earbuds are not free of each other, but joined by a thick wire that goes around the back of your neck. It’s a surprisingly short wire, actually, and someone with an extra broad neck may well feel a little pull on it.

At the two ends of that wire are tough solid earbuds with a rather big signature to them. One can see why they’re in the Endurance series, looking built to withstand anything. They’re waterproof, at any rate, so you can wear them in the pool and the shower. There are extra silicone ear-tips and I certainly needed them as the default size was just too big. Swapping them out for the smallest ones gave me a better fit. You have to twist them around a little to sort of lock into the ear.

Because they’re ‘Jump’, these earbuds have an around-the-ear hook to them. In fact, they turn on when the hook is pulled apart and shut down when the hook joins. Minimal touch controls are on one earbud so you can navigate tracks and volume and take calls. The hook ensures they don’t go falling off when you’re jumping about — so don’t hesitate to skip rope.

The Endurance Jump earphones have great sound. Clear and punchy though not with very deep bass. If you can endure as much music playing as the Endurance earphones can, you can go on for a good eight hours or so. And then, quick charge for ten minutes to get another hour. Pairing happens unprompted. Just get into Bluetooth on your device and you’re done.
