‘Not another set of Bluetooth earphones’ was my first reaction when I spotted a small box arrive a few days ago. But then I realised they were from Sennheiser and I brightened up. I have great admiration for Sennheiser’s sound quality. I will never forget the miserable day I lost a set of their in-ear phones at the airport.

But the CX 6.00BT in-ear phones may be just a tiny little bit more difficult to drop because they go around your neck with their cable. This Bluetooth set seems to be made for just everyone with no particular specific features for say, sports or anything. These earphones are not water resistant, sweat proof, noise cancelling or anything special. They’re just a handy pair of earphones. They look regular, except for a tiny bit of styling on the outside of the earbud. But they sound better than regular.

While wearing the CX 6.00BT is comfortable enough, two little things can be a bit strange. The tiny battery pack on one side and the little controller on the other. Because this is a set with a short cable, these pieces swing about just under one’s chin. And reaching out to the controller feels like reaching too high again, because this is a short cable for the neck.

Design and ergonomics aside, these earphones sound very good. They have a clear sound with just enough bass and good dynamic range otherwise. They never sound tinny or harsh, nor is the sound too pronounced with the bass, which would otherwise be a problem seeing how deep into the ear canal these go.

Battery life is about six hours, but the nice thing is that these earphones can be quick-charged. A tiny cable is provided and you’ll need it because all other devices have moved on to USB Type C and you probably won’t easily find the old style USB cable around. Unfortunately, there’s no carrying case. Well, there is a hard plastic box that the earphones arrived in, but I didn’t find that easy to use as a permanent solution to taking the CX 6.00BT around everywhere.

Sennheiser means the CX 6.00BT to be an all-round music companion for when you walk, run, workout or just sit around. They’re nice for that purpose, but are difficult to recommend because they seem too expensive, seeing the availability of so many new, cheaper earphones in the market now.

Price: ₹7,490

Pros: Good fit and seal, comfortable for long sessions, good, clean, punchy sound

Cons: Rather expensive for what they offer, no separate carry case, no special feature
