Home audio systems today face the unique challenge of sustaining legacy charms in sync with modern features, and not many players have succeeded in bringing the best of the two worlds together, especially at an affordable price tag. The Tower 8g2 speaker system seems to have figured out a way to offer customers old-world looks and quality along with new-age technology and features.

The hi-fi audio tower comes with 120 watts output and is backed by a neat and powerful digital sound processor. It offers sharp and deep audio even when you play the craziest music in your playlist. And it can really rock your apartment if you are in the mood for some loud and clear music. The Tower 8g2 is aided by a 1.5” silk dome tweeter that offers some balanced trebles. The speaker gives a frequency response rate of 20 Hz ~ 20 KHz.

The 4-inch full range bullet front speakers and 6.5-inch sub-woofer are nicely placed on a strong wooden cabinet. The control knobs are kept behind the device, which is a bit inconvenient if you want to fiddle with it more often than usual but the placement adds to the overall aesthetics. There is an RCA in/out option to connect different devices.

Another interesting feature is the audio system’s ability to creatively process and control poor quality audio and deliver a presentable output. This is undoubtedly value-for-money. Even if you stream music on low-data, it doesn’t disturb your audio experience. Its bluetooth connectivity (bluetooth 4.1. Class II) is really impressive. The system intelligently understands paired devices and keep the connections on so that your music goes on uninterrupted. No hassles, especially if you are controlling it with the remote bar.

Also, as an add on, the Tower 8g2 has a USB port to charge your gadget while streaming music. The audio system comes in two colours — black and wood. A few suggestions for the next edition: Add safety gills or nets to the speakers as even a small peck by a sharp object can damage the speaker cone or dust cap or even the precious coil. Also, attaching one or two holding handles to the heavy device can help users easily move it. It’s a worry now.

There is an S/PDIF digital optical input. You can play WAV and MP3 music from a MicroSD and USB decoder (up to 64 GB). The Tower 8g2 has a 3.5 mm mini jack input (analogue stereo) and an RCA audio-in for connecting to other devices. It also offers FM radio playback but the antenna experience needs more fine-tuning.

Verdict: If you are a fan of HQ, blemish-less audio and don’t have the monies to go for a super-premium speaker system, the Tower 8g2 can easily fit your bill and may fill your heart; well, sort of.
