Normally interns are given tedious fetch-and-carry jobs. Not so at Roadhouse Hostels, an Indian Angel Network-funded lodging startup, which is offering an exciting internship to four students, who will be paid to travel. The interns have to undertake a road trip across India, spread over four States for eight days from August 11-19. The four students will be given a daily budget of ₹1,500-3,000 depending on their location and planned tasks. They will be required to master the art of travelling on a budget though they will have mentors at hand to help.
The selection will be a three-step process. Students will have to fill an online application. In the second stage, they will have to clear a creative test that involves a one-line description of themselves. In the third stage, the jury will conduct a video chat, where they will be judged on the basis of their intelligence and discipline.
At the end of the internship, the students have to capture the highlights of their experience on a blog and share videos and photographs. This is the first time that Roadhouse, set up in 2014, has started an internship. Says Uday Jhamb, CEO and co founder of Roadhouse hostels, “So far we have had volunteers. The idea behind offering this internship is to seed and spread the love of travel.”
Voda’s solution for a mobile workforce
Vodafone Business Services (VBS), the enterprise arm of Vodafone India, has introduced Mobile Workforce Essentials, a cloud-based business application that will help companies get the most out of their field force.
With this, employees can remotely manage their attendance from their mobile app as well as receive and despatch work orders while on the field. Employers, on the other hand, can monitor workforce routes through the GPS Tracking feature. The flexible platform also allows for replacement of manual, paper-based forms with 200+ pre-built industry-specific forms and added smart features.
An early customers of Essentials is a State Election Commission that used it in a recent assembly election.
