Everstone invests Rs 200-cr in S Chand

Everstone Capital has invested Rs 200 crore in publishing house S Chand and Company Private Ltd.

Everstone Capital is an investor with over $1 billion invested in India. S Chand is a New Delhi-based company started in 1939 and is in the business of educational and children’s books publishing, textbooks for schools and competitive exams, digital learning solutions, and vocational/corporate training.

S Chand also has a small presence in the overseas markets. Its books are sold in South Asia, South-East Asia, West Asia and Africa.

Dinesh Jhunjhnuwala, Vice-Chairman of S Chand Group, said: “There is a huge demand for K-12, competition, and technical books, and an increasing number of schools are moving towards private publishers.''

Himanshu Gupta, Joint Managing Director of S Chand Group, said the investment would help strengthen its core business of publishing and help reach a rapidly growing internet-savvy population.
