The hearing on the petition filed by Tata Motors Ltd challenging the Constitutional validity of the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011 in the Calcutta High Court was concluded here on Friday.

Written arguments may be submitted before the judge, Mr Justice I.P. Mukerji, by both sides – Tata Motors as well the State Government – by September 20 after which he shall give a verdict in the case.

The hearing concluded after Tata Motors counsel Mr Samaraditya Pal completed his submissions in reply to the arguments by the State against its position on the Constitutional validity of the Act.

The auto major has already opposed the High Court's initiative on compensation to it for the Government vesting land at Singur.

The State Government, on the other hand, has said that it was ready to accept principles for payment of compensation if the Court were to determine them under Sections 23 and 24 of The Land Acquisition Act 1894.
