Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) may consider using its fuel saving technology, Fuelsmart, for passenger vehicles. Currently, the technology is used in its mini-truck model Maxximo Plus. “Nothing is decided (yet).

First, let us see the response to this product, (and) then we will decide,” Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, said at the launch of its Maxximo Plus mini-truck here on Thursday. The Fuelsmart technology offers energy efficiency depending on the cargo load and road conditions. It allows truckers to control fuel usage when not loaded and also adjust energy consumption in loaded conditions.

“The entire (fuel saving) technology is indigenous. We have applied for a patent,” Nayer added. According to him, M&M has sold 1.6 lakh units of Maxximo in the last three years.
