Tata Power gears up for monsoon

Our Bureau Updated - June 18, 2012 at 10:10 PM.

Tata Power has initiated pre-monsoon checks and preventive maintenance of equipment at all sub-stations in the city.

Tata Power said it has installed adequate number of ‘de-watering pumps’ at both distribution and consumer sub-stations to avoid flooding of equipment.

To handle emergencies, dedicated teams are on standby at strategic locations across the city.

Adequate stock of essential spares, tools and equipment, including transformers and switchgears has been ensured to minimise the response time to power interruptions.

In case of electric short circuit in installations, customers have been asked to contact its 24x7 toll free call centre on 1800 209 5161.

Mr. S. Padmanabhan, Executive Director, Operations, Tata Power, said, “The monsoon has set in and the company has ensured that all the safety precautions are maintained, from adequate de-watering pumps and essential spare parts and tools that may be needed. We also wish to advice our customers to take the necessary precautions that can help them have a safe and enjoyable monsoon.”
