VECV launches new range of buses for schools, executives

VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has announced the launch of a new range of buses under Eicher Skyline Pro Series promising a comfortable ride for school kids and executives commuting to office. The company, a 50-50 venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, said that the new buses will meet the demands of the emerging premium market segment providing enhanced passenger safety.

Shyam Maller, Senior VP, Sales, VECV, said: “The new generation Eicher Skyline Pro Series buses have been developed to improve transportation efficiency and reducing the cost of people transportation and aid increase in productivity.”

Salient features

Eicher, which is credited with the launch of the ‘First Safe School Bus in India’ in 1996, has now added new features, which includes retractable seat belts on all the seats for the safety of children.

The firm, which commands a market share of 15.7 per cent in the low and mid-sized bus segment, expects to increase it further during the current financial year with the introduction of these two buses and few other models to follow. Last year, it had a market share of 13.5 per cent.

Maller said the Eicher Skyline Pro Series buses have undergone stringent test protocols and emphasised on safety and comfort of the passengers. The company is set to add one big order of 560 buses from Bihar and another order of 65 buses from Indore, he said.

With a number of corporates houses expanding their facilities and recruiting in large numbers in major metros and cities, the demand for executive commute buses is set to go up, Maller explained.
