Wipro Consumers sales grow 24% last fiscal

Wipro Consumers, which was demerged from IT major Wipro in the third quarter of last fiscal, has posted a 24 per cent sales growth at Rs 4,150 crore for the last financial year with a 29 per cent jump in profits at Rs 509 crore.

While about 50 per cent sales came from the overseas markets, business in India grew with a big thrust on the rural market, where the company topped the region with a 10.8 per cent share.

Vineet Agarwal, President, Wipro Consumer Care, told Business Line , the growth came from organic as well as through acquisitions. While its home-grown Santoor brand grew at about 18 per cent, Yardley, an acquired brand in the UK, grew at 29 per cent in India. The company continued to do well in the international market, said Agarwal, the man behind the company’s acquisitions.
