Adani Power Q2 profit after tax up 40%

Adani Power Ltd (APL) on Friday said its profit after tax (PAT) has increased by 40 per cent and revenues by 171 per cent in the second quarter of 2010-11, ended September 30, compared to the corresponding quarter in the last fiscal.

While the revenues were Rs 1,072 crore (Rs 395 crore), PAT stood at Rs 177 crore (Rs 126 crore), Mr Prabal Banerji, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), told reporters here.

He said the improved results were due to better realisation in the wake of more units being sold and better merchant rates and volumes.

In Q2, Adani Powr generated 3,298 million units (1,495 million units) and sold 2,959 million units (1,334 million units). The average realisation stood at Rs 3.62 per kilowatt hour (Rs 2.96 kWh).

On Friday, APL’s share price on the BSE closed 2.54 per cent down at Rs 82.65.
