BASF India said its net profit was up 36 per cent in the June quarter to Rs 72 crore, as sales rose 27 per cent to Rs 1,289 crore (Rs 1,014 crore).

Prasad Chandran, Chairman and Managing Director, said the focus on improving efficiencies, implementing cost-control measures and deriving synergies following the consolidation of legal entities added to the growth momentum.

Revenue from agriculture business solutions jumped 40 per cent to Rs 504 crore and performance products such as tanning agents, leather and textile chemical contributed Rs 367 crore (Rs 322 crore).

The agriculture business, which constitutes significant part of sales this quarter, is seasonal in nature, and hence, the quarterly figure does not represent the prospects for the full year.
