It is a family reunion after 15 years on December 28 to celebrate the 80th birthday of the man who brought global fame and fortune to the humble family of a school teacher in a single generation.

The Ambani family will celebrate the late Dhirubhai H. Ambani's birthday by dedicating a memorial to the founder of India's largest industrial behemoth, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), at his native place, Chorwad, in Junagarh district of Gujarat. Earlier, the Ambanis had gathered at Chorwad in 1996.

Chorwad is set to witness great fanfare on December 27 and 28 with the Ambani family members descending at a specially-constructed helipad. The renowned religious leader, Bhagvadacharya Rameshbhai Ozawill formally inaugurate the memorial in the presence of Ms Kokilaben Ambani, her two sons Mukesh and Anil, and daughters Dipti Salgaonkar and Neena Kothari, besides other family members.

The Ambani clan will also be present during a religious ceremony at the Goddess Chorwadi temple on the evening of December 27, an RIL spokesman said here on Monday.

The Dhirubhai H. Ambani Memorial has been developed at the same place where the RIL founder spent his childhood. A rented section of the bungalow, then called "Mangarolwalo Delo" was the place where the late Dhirubhai lived, and had later purchased it in 2002. It has now been renamed as "Dhirubhaino Delo".

Ms Kokilaben had founded the Dhirubhai H. Ambani Memorial, as a reminder that the patriarch came from a very modest village background. The Memorial will depict the efforts Dhirubhai made to realise his dreams and also give an opportunity to know the vibrant personality of the legend.

The Memorial will be housed in three sections, that is, a pictorial gallery, old house of the late Dhirubhai, and an auditorium. The pictorial gallery shows the journey of his life through pictures. His old dwelling is arranged the way it was and the auditorium is for screening a short film on the life of Dhirubhai Ambani, the spokesman said.
