Ashok Leyland has launched an intermediate commercial vehicle, a truck, branded Boss.

The commercial launch of the ICV was in Madurai, in south Tamil Nadu, a strong market for the company, as a prelude to a national launch.

According to a press release from the company, the truck caters to the 9.6-tonne, 11.9-t and the 12.9-t haulage segments.

Made in Pantnagar, the Hinduja Group company’s largest plant, it is available in two variants at a price range of Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

Warranty, features

Ashok Leyland offers three-year vehicle warranty and an additional two-year warranty for driveline.

The Boss comes with a service interval of 40,000 km, power steering, a turning radius of 15.3 m, a three-year anti-perforation warranty for the cabin and a five-year replacement guarantee on the rear LED lights.

The Boss LE version has a 120 HP H-series BS3 engine with an in-line fuel injection pump and a six-speed overdrive gearbox.

The Boss LX boasts a 130-HP common rail engine with an automated manual transmission and factory fitted air-conditioning.

Value addition

The company will deliver the vehicles to its customers with ‘Zero’ Km reading through the truck-on-truck transportation mode to ensure quality.

The overall after-market service package and time-bound accident repair assurance will add value to the customers’ business, the release said.
