Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland Ltd plans to launch its multi-purpose vehicle Stile early next year.

The Stile developed by the joint venture partner Nissan-Renault venture will be rolled out of the Chennai assembly line, Nitin Seth, Executive Director, Light Commercial Vehicles, Ashok Leyland, said.

Addressing a press conference here today, Nitin Seth said that the company plans to launch more products on the Dost platform, which include Partner and other models, including a CNG vehicle.

Dost sales

The Dost Light Commercial Vehicle has been averaging about 2,800 vehicles per month and has hit capacity constraints due to difficulty in securing supplies from vendors.

“Therefore, we are forced to limit the sales of Dost in eight states now. As we step up procurement and supplies get better, we will market Dost in 11 states by March 2013,’’ he said.

“As the capacity reaches optimal level, we will go pan-India by next year,’’ he said.

The Stile developed on the same Nisan Evalia platform will have several changes from Ashok Leyland side. While Nissan plans to present its MPV in league with Toyota Innova, the focus is on to cater to a different mass moving and family segment, he said.

“While the general features of the MPV will not be changed as it is built on the same platform, we are seeking to tweak it a bit both exterior and interior. That will be presented in a slightly different mode and value proposition for the customers,’’ he said.
