Bunge India Pvt Ltd plans to set up edible oils and vanaspati production unit in West Bengal.

The proposed facility in Bengal would be in sync with the company’s plans to increase overall production capacity by 1,500 tonnes a day over the next one year, Dinesh Agrawal, Business Head, Dalda, said here on Thursday.

The company, a subsidiary of US-based agri-business major Bunge Ltd and owner of the Dalda brand, currently has a production capacity of 2,000 tonnes a day.

“We are looking at inorganic expansion in West Bengal. We are evaluating it now,” Agrawal told reporter at a press conference.

According to him, a production unit in Bengal will be aimed at catering to the Eastern and North-eastern markets.

Asked about investments, Agrawal said: “A capacity addition by 1,500 tonnes a day in the next one year will require an investment of Rs 700 - Rs 800 crore.”
