Engineers India Ltd has put up a reverse osmosis water treatment plant in Kanchipuram to provide clean and filtered drinking water to people in the temple town.
EIL, a public-sector undertaking under the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has invested Rs 1 crore in the plant, which will benefit 1,53,149 people, says a company press releases.
The construction of the plant is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
The plant was inaugurated on June 5 by T.K.M. Chinnaiah, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Tamil Nadu, in the presence of A.K. Purwaha, Chairman and Managing Director, EIL.
The project included construction of a RO Water Treatment Plant and associated facilities (skid-based unit) for Kanchipuram Municipality to produce 50 cube per hour of quality drinking water.
Water received will be transferred to the reverse osmosis skid, which comprises auto clean filter, chlorination, iron removal, dechlorination system, micron filtration and reverse osmosis units, says a press release issued by the company, says the release.
