Flipkart Plus rakes in ₹1,250 cr in 5 days; hits 1-million member count

Flipkart Plus, a customer loyalty programme launched by India’s largest e-commerce player Flipkart on August 15, has raked in ₹1,250 crore and hit the 1-million member count in five days.

Flipkart Plus, a no-fee membership programme, will compete with Amazon Prime for which members pay an annual subscription fee of ₹999 or the recently-introduced monthly fee of ₹129.

The Plus benefits

Flipkart Plus offers four benefits to its members: Free delivery on over three crore products, exclusive access to shop before others during sales, earn Plus Coins for purchases made on Flipkart and exchange them for offers on shopping/food/travel, etc on third party sites such as Café Coffee Day, Zomato, BookMyShow, Ixigo, Hotstar, MakeMyTrip. And a priority customer support helpline for members.

While there is no upfront subscription fee required to be made in order to become a Flipkart Plus member, shoppers have to earn a minimum of 50 points or shop for ₹12,500 to become a member.

Shoppers can earn one Plus Coin with every purchase worth ₹250 and will continue to earn a Plus coin for every transaction made in multiples of ₹250.

Amazon Prime offers free fast delivery to its members and exclusive access to top deals and coupons. In addition, it also offers free video content including movies, TV shows, Amazon originals and free ad-free music content.
