General Motors India on Monday said it will introduce the Chevrolet Trailblazer this year and Chevrolet Spin in 2016.

Arvind Saxena, President and Managing Director, General Motors India, said: “The Trailblazer is an SUV, which we should be able to launch within this year.

“It will be completely built unit (CBU) export from Thailand. The Chevrolet Spin, a multi-purpose vehicle, would be manufactured here.”

The company, last week, concluded its annual general meeting with dealers and shared business plans.

Apart from these products, General Motors India would go for facelifts for existing car lines, which would keep refreshing the carmaker’s product portfolio.

The company started its exports from September 2014 and shipped around 1,000 units to Chile last year. In 2015, the carmaker plans to export 19,000 vehicles across over 30 markets worldwide, mainly to Chile and Mexico.

“We are geared up to handle bigger volumes now and the exports would start around August-September this year,” Saxena said, adding the export target for 2016 would be 40,000 vehicles.

Declining sales GM India had reported a 36.56 per cent decline in sales at 3,619 units in December. It had logged sales of 5,705 units in the same month of 2013.

On the strategy ahead to improve sales, Saxena said: “We will try and maintain the current level of volumes in the domestic market. It was around 58,000 units last year. “We expect new products would create excitement for the brand and more footfalls at dealerships. Spin will drive volumes for us.”
