Swiss cement maker Holcim, which owns majority stake in ACC and Ambuja Cements, has said that Bernard Terver will be its new Area Manager for India.

The appointment follows incumbent Onne van der Weijde having decided to leave the company with effect from June 1, Holcim today said in a statement.

“Member of the Holcim Executive Committee, Bernard Terver, responsible for the Indian sub-continent, takes over direct responsibility for the country,” it said.

A French national, Terver has been on the board of Ambuja Cements as a non-executive promoter director representing Holcim with effect from December 4, 2013. He is also on the ACC board.

After beginning his career in the steel industry, Terver moved to cement producer CEDEST in 1977, which was taken over by Holcim France in 1994. Since then he has donned various caps in the company which appointed him as a member of senior management with effect April 1, 2010.

In December last year, he was inducted on the Holcim board as an additional director.
