KFC sales inch up 2% in March quarter

Quick service restaurant chain KFC India, which is owned by NYSE-listed Yum Brands Inc, has posted a 2 per cent increase in sales in the January-March quarter. This is also the brand’s third consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales growth in India.

Rahul Shinde, Managing Director, KFC India, said: “Despite external challenges, we have sustained the positive momentum and posted system sales growth of 2 per cent. Our focus remains on sustaining this growth and we are confident in our plans to drive this through continuous focus on innovation, value and our core products.”

Besides, KFC, Yum Brands Inc, which announced its first quarter results on Wednesday, also owns Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. Globally, KFC division posted 5 per cent increase in system sales, in the first quarter, and delivered a double-digit core operating profit growth.

Meanwhile, Pizza Hut India also reported a positive quarter. It saw a 6 per cent increase in sales across its outlets in India in the January-March quarter.
