L&T to build 5000 toilets under CSR programme

L&T will build 5,000 toilets as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

In a statement on Sunday, the company said,” A.M. Naik, Group Executive Chairman, announced a major CSR initiative that would add traction to the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ programme recently launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Independence Day.”

Naik said the objectives of L&T’s ongoing CSR programme were aligned to the mission of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

L&T said the company along with L&T Public Charitable Trust was committed to building India’s social infrastructure.

The investments will cover water supply & distribution, sanitation facilities, healthcare facilities and skill training institutes.

The company would build 2,000 toilets initially and progressively scale it up to 5,000.
