Mahindra & Mahindra, a part of the $15.4-billion Mahindra Group, has launched a compact sports utility vehicle Quanto.

Designed and developed on the company’s Ingenio platform, Quanto is based on customer insights that pointed towards the need for a compact and affordable sports utility vehicle (SUV).

Being launched in four variants (C2, C4, C6 and C8), the Quanto ranges from 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for the base C2 model to Rs 7.36 lakh for the fully loaded top-end version. All the Quanto variants are powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

“Quanto has been developed keeping in mind the evolving needs of our customers. I am confident that the Quanto will create a new category within the SUV segment while offering a unique value proposition to our customers,” Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra, said.

Quanto, with a sub-4 metre length and a tight turning radius of 5.4 metre, has the compactness and convenience of a city car, he added.

Sporting a mCR 100 engine, which is the newest Common Rail Diesel engine in Mahindra’s SUV portfolio, the car delivers a 100 BHP torque.

The Quanto is available in six colours — Fiery Black, Mist Silver, Toreador Red, Java Brown, Diamond White and Rocky Beige — and comes with a two-tonne granite themed dashboard.

A Digital Drive Assist System (DDAS), Intellipark Reverse Assist, 5MT320 transmission, Micro Hybrid technology, dual air bags, anti-braking system (ABS), fog lamps and a high-speed warning system are the other features.
