The tripartite negotiations initiated by the Haryana Government between the management and striking workers at the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) broke down late Tuesday evening.
Officials of Haryana Labour Department failed to break the 12-day impasse between workers of MSI, Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd and their managements. The talks are expected to resume on Wednesday morning.
“We have spoken to Mr J.P. Mann, Labour Commissioner, and he assured us the talks will resume tomorrow morning,” said Mr Shiv Kumar, Secretary of the unrecognised Maruti Suzuki Employees Union (MSEU).
The SPIL workers staged a walk out and Manesar workers didn't turn up, according to a source. But Mr Kumar said that the workers had been called for talks at 10 a.m. in Gurgaon while the timing for internal inquiry against them by the management was kept at 11:30 a.m. at Manesar.
“We can't be at two places at the same time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India rolled out 350 cars from its Manesar plant on Tuesday. “Yesterday (Monday), the weld shop and press shop were made operational at the Manesar plant. Today (Tuesday), we started assembly operations as well,” the company said in a statement.
