Mercedes-Benz has launched GLE 450 AMG Coupé in India, making it the first vehicle of the 12 new cars the German luxury car manufacturer plans to launch in 2016. The company’s first ever Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Coupe is priced at ₹86.40 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai.

“The year 2015 has been the most successful year, with the company selling 13,502 cars between January and December. We also registered a 32 per cent year-on-year growth compared with 2014,” said Roland Folger, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz India.

“We hope 2016 will also be equally successful,” he added.

The GLE 450 AMG Coupé features a three-litre V6 bi-turbo engine, churning out an output of 270 kW (367 HP) with 520 Nm of torque and sprints from 0-100 km in 5.7 seconds. The vehicle also comes with a driver assistance system designed to reduce vehicle drift during strong, gusting crosswinds that are active from 80 km per hour when driving straight ahead and on slight bends. A visual and audible prompt is generated to alert the driver to take a break when drowsiness is detected. This is active in a speed range from 60-200 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz India will launch 12 models and set up 10 outlets this year. In 2015, automobile manufacturer had launched 15 models, and set up 15 outlets in the country, Folger said.

At present, Mercedes-Benz India has 82 outlets across 40 cities.
