Novartis India is organising a biotechnology leadership camp (BioCamp) for students in Hyderabad. It will be held during July 30 to August 1.

The pharma major has invited students from 100 Indian universities to take part in the camp.

The top three students selected from the camp will represent India at the global BioCamp to be held at the Navoratis global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland during August 26-29.

The camp intends to bring students from the master's, doctoral and post-doctoral programmes from various faculties, closer to the pharmaceutical industry.

The BioCamp is open to post-graduate students and young researchers in natural sciences, medicine, biotechnology, bio-informatics, pharmacy, business administration or law (specialisation in Intellectual Property Rights). Those interested can apply before June 14.

The event attempts to support the student community and build relationships with academia to address the healthcare needs of the country, said Mr Ranjit Shahani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Novartis India Ltd.

Since launching the BioCamp initiative in 2004, Novartis has introduced nearly 500 top graduate students to the biotech industry and entrepreneurship, he said in a release.
