The IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore has formed a ‘fan advisory board' to co-ordinate various activities of the RCB Fan Club. This was announced at the Fan Summit held in Bangalore.

The Fan Advisory Board will consist of 20 ‘die-hard' fan-members who will facilitate activities such as running contests, organising fan meets, driving green initiative programmes, recruiting and engaging fans with the RCB Web site and fan pages on social network sites. This board will be retained until the next IPL in 2013 when new members will be inducted.

Mr Sidhartha Mallya, Director of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, said, “Fans have always been the focus of RCB and it has been our endeavour to find innovative ways to engage with fans and bring the team closer to them. This initiative will help strengthen the bond between the fans and the team as the advisory board represents the RCB Fan Club.”

The 20 members on the advisory board were chosen after a selection round in which fans were asked to submit their ideas on making RCB the ‘best club' in the world, said a press statement. The youngest member of the club is 14-year-old Mr Mridul Mittal from Jaipur, and the oldest is Bangalore's, Mr Raghu Nath.

The 20-member board has 10 fans from Bangalore, while the remaining come from other parts of the country. The board has been divided into four groups and have been named after four RCB heroes — captain Daniel Vettori, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and Zaheer Khan.
