Sembcorp has won a tender conducted by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) to supply 250 MW power to Bangladesh over 15 years.
Sembcorp Energy India Limited’s (SEIL) subsidiary Sembcorp Gayatri Power Limited (SGPL) has won the bid. SGPL is part of SEIL’s thermal power portfolio, which has two supercritical power plants in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh with a combined 2,640 MW in capacity.
"Both thermal plants have maintained an average plant load factors (PLF) of over 80 per cent for the period between April and December 2017 well above the industry average PLF of 60 per cent," a company statement said.
“SGPL has received letters of intent from BPDB confirming its success in both the short term and long term bids, and supply of power is expected to commence soon upon completion of procedural requirements and relevant government approvals," the statement added.
SEIL currently owns and operates a portfolio of both thermal and renewable energy assets totalling 4.37 GW in operation and under construction.
