Singareni Collieries Company Limited and equipment supplier Caterpillar have initiated steps to improve output from the Rs 1200-crore Adriyala Long Wall underground project located at Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district of Telangana.
It is proposed to ramp up the production to 15,000 tonnes per day. This capital intensive project is envisaged to produce 2.81 MT per annum. Adriyala is expected to create a benchmark in underground coal production in the country, on achieving rated capacity of 2.81 MT in 2015-16. The success of this project will open up new avenues for increased deployment of advanced mechanisation in the underground sector.
The miner had taken the equipment on trial runs since mid of October 2014. The average production per day has reached 4000 tonnes per day. After initial teething problems of automation, electrical circuit, software etc have been sorted out but project is yet to attain rated production.
N Sridhar during his meeting with suppliers has sought to increase the production to 10,000 tonnes per day by February and to 15000 tonnes per day in March 2015.
Around 20 per cent of SCCL production is from underground mines against an average 7 per cent in the country. Now, country is aiming to raise it to about 30 per cent underground production mix in the near future, Singareni said.
