Tata Motors' new transformation strategy had one more casualty with company's CTO Timothy Leverton putting down his paper, citing personal reasons.

Leverton has been associated with Tata Motors since 2010 working out of the Tata Motors Engineering Research Centre in Pune.

Commenting on the exit, Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors said, "Tim has actively led the research and development initiatives of Tata Motors and we thank him for his invaluable contribution. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours."

The move comes within months of commercial vehicles head Ravindra Pisharody's exit as Tata Motors continues to lose market share in bread and butter CV business. The situation hasn't been assuaged by slightly improved PV sales.

The company recently 'put in fridge' its ambitious TaMo division which was to develop sports cars that could improved Tata Motors' brand image and click better with youth.

Tata Motors’ share of Medium and Heavy duty commercial vehicles dropped to 49 per cent in 20016-17 from 51.9 per cent in 2015-16. In heavy-duty truck segment, Tata’s share dropped to 53 per cent in 2016-17 from 58 per cent in the previous year. Overall sales for medium and heavy commercial vehicles dropped 40 per cent in May, dragging overall CV sales down by 13 per cent.
