Torrent Power Ltd, which participated in the competitive bidding and the e-Reverse Auction process held on Tuesday by Solar Energy Corporation of India, has emerged as the biggest winner.
The auction was held for setting up of 2,000 MW Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) connected wind power projects. Torrent Power won the highest quantum of 499.80 MW amongst all bidders. It is also the largest capacity ever won by any bidder in the wind auctions conducted so far in the country. The project has a schedule of commissioning within 18 months from the effective date of the PPA, as specified by SECI, the company said in a statement here.
Torrent has so far implemented wind and solar power projects aggregating 436 MW. Besides these operational projects, nearly 185 MW renewable power projects are under advanced stage of execution.
With this win at SECI–III, the aggregate capacity of operational as well as under construction/under development renewable power projects of Torrent has crossed the 1,100-MW mark and its total operational and under construction/development generation capacity has crossed 4,272 MW.
