Toyota launches all-new Fortuner at Rs 25.92 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Monday launched the second generation of the Fortuner priced between Rs 25.92 lakh and 31.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The all-new Fortuner comes with a new 2.8 L diesel engine with an all-new six-speed automatic transmission (AT) with sequential and paddle shifters and a new 2.7 L petrol engine.

While the petrol version (2WD) is priced at Rs 25.92 lakh (MT) and Rs 27.67 lakh (AT), the diesel variant is priced between Rs 27.52 lakh and 31.12 lakh (all ex-showroom, Delhi).

The company said the new Fortuner has tough and cool design and is loaded with enormous power, exceptional ride comfort, premium features, safety and security which exude the same level of dependability and drivability as the Toyota Land Cruiser.

The 2.8 L six-speed AT has 177 PS and 450 Nm torque, the company said, adding that the all-new Fortuner is also available with a refined 2.7 L petrol engine generating a performance of 166 PS and 245 Nm.

“Fortuner is one of our flagship models and has won many hearts globally and as well as in India. While evolving the needs of customers is paramount for us at Toyota when developing a product, the second generation Fortuner is a reflection of our constant determination to make better cars,” Akito Tachibana- Managing Director, TKM, said.

He said the company is confident that the new Fortuner will continue its legacy to maintain its number one positioning in the Indian SUV market.

Sharing his thoughts, N Raja, Director and Senior Vice-President (Sales & Marketing), TKM, said, “The Fortuner has been a market leader in its segment with 70 per cent market share ever since its launch in 2009, and is better known as a true SUV with powerful performance.”

He said the company has sold one-lakh units of the Fortuner since its launch in 2009 in India. “With the new Fortuner, we are certain to carry forward the brand legacy of undisputed SUV segment leader and keep the customers delighted,” added Raja.

Apart from Toyota, Ford India also has a similar product to compete in the segment – Endeavour – priced between Rs 23.78 lakh and Rs 29.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
