Luxury car maker Volvo Car India on Wednesday launched the compact sports utility vehicle XC40 priced at ₹39.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The XC40 will compete with the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
The compact SUV has a lot of features, not only in safety, but also in terms of technology such as the 12-inch display and wireless mobile charging. The vehicle has oncoming lane mitigation, run-off road protection and incoming pedestrian warning.
The XC40 is available in the R-Design trim with 2L four-cylinder twin-turbo D4 diesel variant producing 190bhp and 400Nm of peak torque.
“The XC40 is our first offering in the entry-level SUV segment and with this, Volvo completes its range across all luxury SUV segments—compact, mid-size and full size,” Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said here at the launch.
He said the launch of the XC40 and dealer expansion of one a month this year will be key factors to achieve the company’s target of doubling it’s share in the segment by 2020.
