Wabco opens second plant at Mahindra City

Wabco India, a tier-one supplier to the global commercial vehicle industry, kicked off its second plant today at the Mahindra World City near Chennai. Completed at an investment of over Rs 50 crore, this is one of the four plants the company operates in India.

Wabco’s Plant 2 at MWC will manufacture products to supply commercial vehicle manufacturers in Germany, Japan, Poland, and the US, among other markets internationally.

The new 2,272-square metre plant will employ 160 people, including 30 engineers, says a press release from the company.

The plant was inaugurated by Jacques Esculier, Wabco Chairman and CEO, and Leon Liu, President, Asia.

Wabco designs, manufactures and markets conventional braking products, advanced braking systems, and other related air-assisted products and systems.

Sales

The company employs over 1,100 employees and reported sales of Rs 1,058 crore in fiscal year 2011-12.
