Zahoransky Moulds' unit in Coimbatore moves into own premises

Zahoransky Moulds and Machines Pvt Ltd has relocated its factory from Ganapathi in Coimbatore to its own premises at Kuppepalayam near Coimbatore.

The expansion and relocation is happening five years after the German company forayed into India.

(Zahoransky Group is into production of brush machines (Industrial and household, oral care, medical and cosmetics), injection moulds and packaging machines.

Company sources say the new plant would be the first Platinum rated building in Tamil Nadu. It has been awarded this rating by the Indian Green Building Council.

Briefing presspersons after the inauguration of the Kuppepalayam facility, Ulrich Zahoransky, Managing Director, Zahoransky AG, Germany said the manufacturing facility is the company's first outside Europe. (The company has six production sites, four of which are located in Germany and one each in Spain and India).

The total investment on the Coimbatore plant, which has come up on a 5-acre plot, is Rs 14 cr.

The Indian arm of the group would initially manufacture precision injection moulds, tufting and finishing machines for tooth brushes and drilling and tufting for household brushes, catering to both the domestic and overseas markets, he said.

Arvind Chawla, Managing Director, Zahoransky India said the company chose to establish the facility in Coimbatore because the city is a hub for the tooling industry.

“The turnover, post-expansion, is expected to touch Rs 21 cr,” he said.

The group’s turnover in 2011 stood at 72 million Euro, of which 17 per cent has been from Asia. “We are expecting the share from Asia to increase with the expansion of the production facility in India,” Chawla said.

Highlighting the unique features of the green building concept, Ravindran Sambasivan, Advisor Director of the group’s Indian arm, said the project is expected to result in a reduction of carbon dioxide emission by over 500 tonnes annually, a 45 per cent reduction in energy consumption through provision of energy efficient LED and Plasma lighting systems, onsite waste management systems to facilitate recycling, and so on.
