Bangalore-based assessment firm MeritTrac, which has the country's largest online test network with about 50,000 terminals across 185 cities, is increasing its focus on PSUs.

“We have been working with PSUs like NTPC, SAIL and GAIL to conduct online tests for their management trainee and engineer trainee posts, but now have increased our focus on other state owned enterprises as well,” says Mr S. Muralidhar, CEO, MeritTrac Services.

MeritTrac Services recently conducted online tests for posts of constables for Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, graduate assistants to scientists for Indian Council of Agricultural Research where 30,000 people were tested online across 16 cities in 45 batches.

Tech boost

Mr Muralidhar says that now not only have PSUs started outsourcing their examinations to assessment firms, but are also looking at bringing in newer technologies to the tests like biometric authentication to prevent impersonation.

Last year, the company launched AuthenTrac, a service that ensures authenticity of candidates through a combination of biometric fingerprint imprint and a digital photograph that is captured at the time of the examination. This data is then verified at the time of candidate admission.

Till date, MeritTrac has delivered over 10 million exams — both in a paper-pencil mode and online mode. The company's test research and test development teams have created a battery of over 300 validated tests, spanning areas like communication skills, general abilities, domain and behavioural skills.

MeritTrac also delivered the online Common Admission Test for Prometric for entrance to premier management schools in India in 2010.

In 2009, MeritTrac conducted the Gujarat Common Entrance Test for over 23,000 candidates across 11 cities in Gujarat.
